On this New Music Monday, the spotlight falls on alternative/pop artist Lily Elise.
Raised in the Bay Area and currently residing in Los Angeles, Elise began her music career with daily writing sessions and with artists from various genres. These relationships led to releases of various songs that Elise was the featured vocalist on. The songs include Felix Cartel (“Let It Go”), Dillon Francis (“Hurricane”), Twin Shadow (“Alone”) and Frenship (“Cover Up”). Elise has also worked with notable producers and writers, including Julia Michaels (Selena Gomez, Justin Beiber, Gwen Stefani), Justin Tranter (Justin Beiber, Selena Gomez, DNCE), Mozella (Miley Cyrus, Madonna, One Direction), 4e (Janine and the Mixtape, Blackbear, The Neighborhood) and many more. After working in boot camp-like writing sessions, Elise found her own voice; a fusion of alternative pop and R&B music. After touring with noteworthy artists that include Don Henley, and working alongside upcoming EDM acts such as Le Youth and Autograf, Elise is ready to continue releasing new music.
The artist just announced the release of her brand new music video for the single “I Don’t Know Why,” from her upcoming EP, Oliver. The video premiered on Perez Hilton and has been praised as “not your traditional pop. It’s very soulful with some R&B touches.” (Perez Hilton). The track instantly secured features on Spotify’s New Music Friday-where it scored over 247K plays, Weekend Buzz, Global Viral Chart and US Viral 50 charts. Watch it below
Elise’s upcoming EP Oliver reflects a specific time period in Elise’s life by depicting a tumultuous relationship. The forthcoming project is slated for release later this year and features co-writes with Rosina “Soaky” Russell (B.O.B, Rita Ora, Danity Kane), Jenn Decilveo (Ryn Weaver, Melanie Martinez), Felix Snow (Sza, Gallant, Nicole Scherzinger), Dan Nigro (Sky Ferreira, AlunaGeorge, Twin Shadow) and Mighty Mike (Dojo, Sirah, Kelly Clarkson).
Influential tastemaker, All Things Go, raves Elise’s music is “a stunning combination of pop and R&B that few can pull off.” In addition, her take on popular songs, like Jessie J’s “Bang Bang” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” has helped her gain a strong internet following. Stay tuned for more from Lily Elise and her upcoming EP.
