Marvel and Netflix have announced the actor who will play the martial arts fighting superhero Iron Fist, who will join Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage first with his own series before the long-awaited team-up series The Defenders.
Finn Jones, who plays the character of Loras Tyrell on HBO’s Game of Thrones, will play Daniel Rand, who returns to New York City after four years of martial arts training in Tibet after being left for dead. He uses his martial arts skills to fight crime with his mastery of the titular “Iron Fist”, in which his hand has the power of steel. Jones was cast last month in the role, but it was kept under wraps when Mike Colter, who plays Luke Cage, mentioned that the role had been cast, but were waiting from an official word from Marvel and Netflix.
Scott Buck will be the showrunner for the series with Scott Reynolds, who worked on Jessica Jones as writer and producer. The series will be set to debut after Luke Cage in 2017.
