With production of season 2 of Daredevil going on, it’s clear that we are going to see both Jon Bernthal (above)as the latest incarnation of Frank Castle, aka The Punisher and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios. Netflix has revealed their plans for the Marvel Universe as it pertains to Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist at the Television Critics Award press tour.
First, before Daredevil season 2 premieres, Jessica Jones will debut this fall with Krysten Ritter taking the role of the former costumed superheroine turned private detective with PTSD. Mike Colter will debut on that series as Luke Cage before he gets his own series. Netflix CEO Ted Sarondos added, “Some will selectively have multiple seasons as they come out of the gate. So they’ll probably be two launches a year.” It would seem that the plan is to gauge the audience response to the particular series and decide which will continue as solo series, and which will be reserved for The Defenders from there.”
Will we see The Punisher get his own series? “Yes, anything is possible.” said Sarondos, but that will have to wait as Netflix is focusing on The Defenders. However, as Sarondos indicated…anything is possible.
