‘Congrats to Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson who tied the knot over the weekend! The 28-year old singer and the 51-year old video director said “I do” at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans according to according to People.
The festivities began with a viewing of the 1975 Diana Ross film Mahogany, which Solange and Ferguson watched on their first date. Later, friends and family gathered to witness the nuptials all dressed in white. Knowles and Ferguson arrived on matching white vintage bikes. Solange wore a ivory-toned pantsuit by Stephane Rolland as she rode the bike that was decorated in cream roses. She later changed into a caped white gown designed by her friend and collaborator Humberto Leon for the ceremony itself. Photographer Rog Walker captured stunning photos of the bride and groom, as well as Knowles’ sister Beyoncé, mother Tina Knowles, musician Janelle Monáe, and the many family and friends.
The bride walked down the aisle to a symphonic instrumental of Donny Hathaway’s, “I Love the Lord, He Heard My Cry” which is one of the couple’s favorite songs. There were also performances by musician friends Kelela, Questlove, and Kindness. Knowles had a dance off with her ten-year-old son Daniel Julez to “No Flex Zone.”
“Everyone I worked with on the wedding are friends who I love,” said Solange via email earlier to Vogue yesterday. “Everything was a labor of love.” Indeed it was. Mazel Tov!
